Purpose, Impact & Business: A Journey Beyond Success

From Personal Values to Global Impact
Some journeys don’t begin in boardrooms or business schools.
They begin at home.
For me, the foundation of everything I do today was shaped in childhood — not through
theory, but through example.
I grew up watching my mother give, consistently and selflessly.
She fed neighbors when they had nothing.
She supported extended family members.
She invested in the education of other children — all while raising six of her own.
She never called it philanthropy.
To her, it was simply a responsibility.
That mindset stayed with me.

Ambition, Achievement — and an Unexpected Void
As I grew older, I developed a clear vision for my future:
→ study in Paris
→ achieve the highest academic degree possible
→ build a successful career in Germany
And I did exactly that.
After completing my Master’s degree in Paris, I began my professional journey in Munich.
I worked in strong organizations, built a solid career, and earned a good income at a young
age.
From the outside, everything looked like success.
But internally, something was missing.

The Turning Point: Discovering Purpose
In 2007, a simple conversation changed everything.
A friend handed me an article and said:
“Vicky, if you’re looking for a purpose-driven job, you should read this.”
The article was about Prof. Muhammad Yunus, founder of Grameen Bank.
As I read about microfinance and social business, something clicked immediately.
I knew — without hesitation — that this was the path I had been searching for.

From Germany to Bangladesh: A Life-Changing Experience
In 2008, I made a bold decision.I left my job and traveled to Bangladesh to experience this model firsthand.
What started as a learning journey quickly became something much more meaningful.
While working with Grameen Shikka, I launched a scholarship program supporting
young girls’ education — a cause deeply aligned with my values. Since then, we have
positively impacted the lives of many girls.
This experience transformed me.
I didn’t just gain knowledge — I found purpose.

Back to Germany — With a New Perspective
When I returned to Germany, I was no longer searching for just a job — I was looking to
make a meaningful impact.
Between 2009 and 2011, I gained valuable experience and further shaped my professional
path. At the same time, I realized I was still searching for a deeper alignment with my personal values.
That clarity led me to join Salesforce in 2012 — a decision strongly influenced by its unique philanthropic model. Salesforce’s 1-1-1 model — dedicating resources, time, and capital to social impact — resonated deeply with me.

For the first time, I felt fully aligned:
→ professional growth
→ business performance
→ meaningful contribution

From Employee to Impact Driver
During my time there, I became deeply involved in social initiatives across the organization.
I coordinated Voluntary Time Off (VTO) programs across offices in:
● Munich
● Frankfurt
● Düsseldorf
● Zurich
Together with colleagues, we supported:
● food banks
● charity runs
● children with cancer
● refugee initiatives
At some point, my colleagues started calling me:
“The Charity Queen.”
Not as a title — but as recognition of genuine commitment and consistency.
But beyond internal recognition, this work was also acknowledged at the highest level within
the organization.
I was honored to receive the:
→ Salesforce EMEA Award for Top Foundation Support (2013)
→ Salesforce Champion Grant Winner (2013 & 2014)
These distinctions reflected not only engagement — but the ability to mobilize people,
structure initiatives, and create tangible impact at scale.

Entrepreneurship with Purpose
Today, as the founder of VB Consulting and VB Impacting Africa, I operate at the
intersection of:

→ business
→ infrastructure development
→ international partnerships
→ impact-driven investment
But one thing has never changed:
Philanthropy is not an initiative.
It is part of my DNA.

Why This Matters Today
In a world where business is often measured only by financial performance, I believe we
need to redefine success.
True impact happens when:
● economic value
● social responsibility
● long-term thinking
are aligned.

Final Reflection
Looking back, the journey makes perfect sense.
From a mother’s quiet generosity…
to a life-changing trip to Bangladesh…
to global business and impact-driven entrepreneurship…
The mission has always been the same:
To create value that goes beyond business — and contributes to
something bigger.

Let’s Build Meaningful Impact Together
If your organization is looking to combine business performance with purpose-driven
strategy, I welcome a confidential conversation.

Because impact is not an abstract concept.
It is something we can design, structure, and scale together.
